Ascent Trip Report

On the way down from Mount Morrison I was lulled by a herd of deer to take the side trail up this USGS point. On the way up this tiny peak split the trail saddle as the main trail stops heading west and bifurcates to a northward heading up Mount Morrison. By the amount of footprints left in the snow and ice, this little extra credit side route sees a lot of visitors so I had to run up this whopping fifty feet of gain to find the highpoint that the USGS set at 6,916 to see the view. It is not a scramble it is an easy class 1 to the top and the views are of Bear Creek Valley.

For those wanting a really quick hike and only doing half of the vertical (about a 1000 feet) for some quick views I suppose this a nice stopping point?
