Ascent Trip ReportCombined trip with Lyon and Granite Chief Peaks. Ascent via Granite Chief trail/Pacific Crest trail/East ridgeline. Rated Ascent Quality a 4 due to sidehilling through boulders,sandy soil, knee high brush and extra elevation gains. Intermittent use trails from Granite Chief summit to saddle between peaks, routefinding through brushy slopes required. stayed to the south of the ridgeline to pass the "gendarmes" near the summit then climbed up to the south side of the summit block, easy class 3, descended via the west side, class 2 then continued on ridge to Lyon Peak.
