Ascent Trip Report

Ascent on ski mountaineering skiis. A bit of a slog up ski slope from door of Hela hotel to Portasky then very pleasent forest track to Ruzova hora. Track through dwarf pines marked by plentiful 5m high poles. After initial climb from Ruzova Hora track follows undulating ridge before final steepish ascent of snow ice covered steps to summit. Ice encrusted buildings at summit include a wooden chapel at the high point. Despite the weather there are a few other folk struggling around in gusting W wind. Snezka bistro is open serving snacks and drinks. We walk down the icy steps before skiing back the same route we'd climbed. A great pity the weather was so poor as the area is really very attractive and has great ski route potential.
