Ascent Trip Report

My micro-spikes kept me balanced negotiating steep slopes at start, gripping the slick leaves beneath a wet snow of about 6 to 10 inches, bushwhack was otherwise straight forward passing by some posted land to the east to start and reaching up to a snowmobile visited summit with views north across Rte 28; snowmobile tracks descended southward while I followed their detour west along the ridge to a turn-around point with views westward all along the way, from there made a short bushwhack descent and climb to Hill 671 in the State Forest Preserve finding signs of logging in the col and at summit, now backtracking to turn-around, then on to deer yard above snow covered rail tracks and Rte 28 / Mobil Station where manager encouraged me at my climb's start; I've quite fortunately reached every lowland summit attempted, always expecting to be chased off private lands, at times even approaching backyards, now reaching 12 of 15 peaks with a first ascent between the Catskills and Hudson River from Climax to Rosendale, NY while adding another two peaks to the area located in the Bluestone Wild Forest, State Forest Preserve with another mysterious three to go.
