Ascent Trip Report

From the trailhead off Lime Kiln Rd, the trail dipped down in elevation a bit, crossed a marshy area, and turned right at the junction with the Kilns spur path. From the turn, it veered through the center of a 3 way fork, then climbed an enbankment. It had an easy grade for a bit, then started to get steeper and rougher. About halfway up this section, ice flows started appearing, which made walking up and down tricky in places. After some careful hiking and foot placement, I made it to the top. While most everything around me was in the clouds, that wasn't the case for Black Mountain. In fact, the clouds, snow, and sun in the distance made for some neat light effects. Took some pics, then carefully headed back down, making a short detour to the Lime Kilns near the end.
