Ascent Trip Report

Eric and I climbed Hurricane and the next day did Cascade and Porter. The climb up Hurricane wasn't too bad, it was wet but then as it got more humid the black flies came out in full force. I had never seen black flies like this before, it was horrible. I had to bend over to try and breath. We had to try and walk and eat and swat at the flies. After this trip we stopped at the ESM in Lake Placid and bought netting for our heads for the next day. (which the bugs were not as bad) I can't even remember much about the hike because we were trying to hike as fast as we could and not fall as we trekked back down the mountain. It rained as we got near the bottom and heard some thunder as well. Again could not have done this hike without my poles!
