Ascent Trip Report

An easy visit to 7 areas with little hiking.

I visited all of the 7 candidate high point areas following the directions in Ken Oeser/Tom Owen TRs. This TR attempts to update/add detail only where necessary and is not a stand alone report - one must read Ken and Tom. I've numbered the Areas a la PB.

AREA 1 (36,10405,-89.49173) ... easy road/xcountry/herd path, 1 mile, 30 minutes RT.
From I-155, exie 7, we went north .87 miles to a right turn on Lennox-Nauvoo Road, .25 miles east turned left on the paved Richardson Hill Road, .77 miles north arrived at Ken's gate with house #770 on the left (owner of the property to the north). The friendly lady knew of the HP and gave me permission to proceed. We parked at the gate, Rose stayed back.
I walked the small gravel road north (open field on the left) .25 miles to a second gate (36.10115,-8948904), then went northwest xcountry (along the edge of open field, woods on the right) for 150 yards to the field corner (36.10243,-89.49034). I turned right on a track/herd path of sorts, that took me 50 yards north, through a strip of rough woods, to a second open grass field ( a few posted signs here). The obvious open HP can be seen 150 yards to the northwest.
Unfortunately poor weather robbed me of the views.

AREA 2 ... The MILLSFIELD LOOKOUT TOWER has been removed and replaced with a tall Communication Tower. The present natural ground is immediately beside the road, before/left-of the tower.

AREA 4 (east side of road) is definitely lower in elevation than AREA 3 (west side of road) and need not be visited.

I made n effort to visit the DYERSBURG LOOKOUT TOWER with no luck. I looked-for/couldn't-find the proper access.

A short morning outing, spent the rest of the day in Dyersburg - no movies to our liking.
