Ascent Trip Report

Got there at 4:30 AM ET and we were the 33rd car in line. I was hoping to do the knife edge since there are 45 parking spots near the beginning of that trail, but I guess a bunch of spots must have been reserved as they closed the Roaring Brook parking lot about 5 cars ahead of us. So we took the Hunt Trail to the top instead (about 5.2 miles each way). I had climbed the Hunt once before when I was around 13, it's a relatively easy climb though the rocks get a bit vertical in some spots. We couldn't have asked for better weather, generally clear skies, few clouds, windy but warm enough on the sunny side of the mountain, around 74 degrees at the bottom, probably about 50 degrees up top. Our gas tank was practically on empty when we arrived at the mountain, luckily the road back to Millinocket has some downhill stretches where I could coast in neutral and there was a gas station about 8 miles down the road (vs. 16 miles to Millinocket).
