Ascent Trip Report

I got an 8:15 am start, with intent to climb Mt. Democrat by its south ridge. I arrived at Kite Lake at 10:15 a.m. and found a uniform six inches of snow. I spent an hour hiking up west and hiking back down. I then drove to the Salt Creek access to the Buffalo Peaks, Forest Road 436. At the end of the road, 1:19 p.m., I hiked up the closed remnant of the road and across open timberline forest to the foot of East Buffalo Peak. I ascended it, 13300 ft., then went down to the saddle and up West Buffalo Pk., 13326 ft. I saw George Vandersluis and Mary Maurer's names on the register for the day before. I descended to the saddle, down and then around East Buffalo Peak. 1:19, E Buffalo 3:15, W Buffalo 4:15 p.m.
