Ascent Trip ReportI thought I'd jump on the Bainbridge Ferry after work and ride my bike over to Gazzam Lake Park. I thought: "The park will have a local map with topos, trails, distances, etc.". The ferry ride over was great - got on the 6:20 pm and arrived in Bainbridge. I'd printed out a pretty sketchy road map and started pedalling. A few miles later and a few strenuous hill climbs on the bike and I was at the trailhead. No local maps, just a big wooden map kiosk with nothing on it. Tried to ride around on the trails and guesstimate where the high point was, but there was no way. I did find two big round water tanks and was curious if they might be somewhere close to the HP, but a later search confirmed they were not. It's all wooded in that area and the topography is not very dramatic: I'm sure I was in the vicinity of the HP, but will have to come back another day (with a GPS). Got back to the ferry terminal and got on the next ferry, was back in Seattle by 9:30 or so. Coming into Seattle on the ferry at night is one of my favorite things about the city.
