Ascent Trip Report

Probably the worst weather I have ever stood on a summit in (yes, worse than Mt. Washington, NH!). Very strong winds, heavy rain, and temperatures barely above freezing before factoring in wind chill. Miserable and wet. I camped just below the summit, near the Hrafntinnusker hut. I got so wet and cold overnight that I had to head back to Landmannalaugar the next day. Morgunblaðið reported that dozens of hikers needed to be rescued the day after I left this area. Good decision on my part, though I regretted it at the time. Solo.
