Ascent Trip ReportThe most difficult part is to get there. 1 Day to get there from Quito. No reference in climbing guides, very few people if any to direct you to the start point. To get there from the Ecuadorian territory you must get to Tulcan (big city)from there is 18km to Tufino (ask directions) from Tufino we drove to Aguas Hediondas were road finishes and there is only hot springs and a tent could be pitched to stay there. Temperature is cold and moist. Next Day we drove back to the road Tufino maldonado and heded to the latter. Eventualy there is a sign after some lakes called Lagunas Verdes that says Volcan Chiles. There you leave the car and begin the walk. Aparently there is a very spartan refuge (quite dirty and abandoned but works)follow trail until it dissapears bordering some wetlands. Then just follow the rock piles to the summit. Summit could be mistaken with 2 previous peaks if is to foggy so keep on following the piles of rocks. There are no trails and everything is rock so is hard to pick up some tracks... is Advisable to bring a GPS. The vegetation lower down is one of the highlight of the Trip is a big plant called Frailejon from the genera Espeletia. Bring Rope and Helmet
