Ascent Trip Report

Charlie Winger's 2014-03-20 and Eric Kassan's 2015-11-21 trip reports were helpful. I drove in following Scott Surgent's SummitPost.org directions. For the record here are my driving notes (in miles):

00.0 Take Exit 318 (Dragoon Road) off I-10. Turn SE towards Dragoon.
13.3 Turn Right onto US 191 towards Sunsites.
20.0 Turn Right onto Ironwood Road, signed for "Cochise Stronghold".
25.3 Pavement ends.
26.9 Turn Right onto FR 795, signed for "Blacktail Canyon".
27.4 Continue Straight towards Blacktail Canyon (road becomes more primitive).
28.3 Turn Left onto road 4378
29.0 Pass a water tank on the right. Ample parking here.
29.2 Parked at a structure foundation on the left.

The summit registry I found in the summit cairn was a damaged empty plastic bottle. Perhaps someone could donate a new receptacle with notepad and pencil. Like others, I recommend visiting the possibly higher point northwest for better views.
