Ascent of Mount Si on 2007-04-01| Date: | Sunday, April 1, 2007 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Si | | Location: | USA-Washington | | Elevation: | 4167 ft / 1270 m |
Ascent Trip ReportMy 37th ascent of Mt. Si, but the first time I ever saw the mountain truly look beautiful. It was snowing at the trailhead, and kept snowing the entire way up and down. The last mile up I strapped on my ice spiders (spikes) because the trail became hard, icy snow. At the top everything was blanketed in white and the snow just kept falling and there was total silence. For 45 minutes, I had Mt. Si to myself with no wind and no other people. The mountain looked positively alpine. A totally amazing and extremely rare experience for a Mt. Si climb.
