Ascent Trip ReportThis trail starts alongside a church out in the country. There is a sign, but you sort of have to look for it.
As high points go, this one is nothing to shout about, but it was pleasant enough, tracking along what appeared to be a logging or farm road for the better part of the trek. It was pretty hot, and weeds covered the trail in parts. Watch out for chiggers and ticks! I managed to pick up both along the way. Yikes! Really itchy. Spray yourself with insect repellent before you start out.
There's a nice little rock cairn and a sort of a kiosk at the top which features a memorial to a high-pointer. It was pleasant and shaded. Trees all around, so there is no view, but the shade was welcome.
I met a couple of high-pointers on the way "down," (actually you don't get much of a sense of going down a hill; just sort of a slope downward). Other than that, the trail was deserted.
Pleasant hike. Next time, I would spray myself down, pack a lunch, take a few friends, and maybe have a little picnic at the top. This is an easy high point that almost anyone can do.
