Ascent Trip Report

At the risk of patting myself on the back, I was rather pleased with this ascent. Tired of lame I-90 traffic on a refuckingdiculously hot day, I left the freeway to go find the Mercer Island HP. No map, no GPS, just a 4Runner and a 4Eyed dumpster diver. I proceeded on Island Crest Way since its name portended a HP area. I drove well past what was clearly higher ground and then turned around at about 70th. I returned to 40th and then went E as it was clear that the higher ground lay in that direction. Then S and soon enough I was at Rotary Park and so no clearly higher ground. I parked and touched a pair of boulders and then a grassy knoll. Some guy was looking at me as if I weirdo so I feigned the excuse that I had lost my cell phone. Whatever. I noted the streets and left, feeling like I had done a decent job but also thinking it unlikely that I had found the HP with all of the various trees and homes and impeded views. And low and behold, I get home and check and it turns out that that was indeed the location of the HP. Hooray.
