Ascent Trip Report

Early start (6AM) from Wupperman Campground on lake San Cristobal. Drive up to trailhead while eating scones and bananas and drinking cold starbucks mocha (yum!)

We took a variation route up, deviating from the trail and going up scree to steep grassy slopes on the S face. A nice route that was challenging for Steph (she did awesome on the scree and steep glass!) then joined Handies trail at about 13k up to Summit proper

Hike down was enjoyable - tons and tons of wildflowers. American Basin has to be the columbine capital of the state. Lots of 4 wheelin texans at the trailhead when we got back, picking wildflour boquets.... back down to lake city for the arts show and some fly fishing...!
