Ascent Trip Report

Horrible ruts in the road to get the the trailhead. When I turned off the interstate on the Bakerville exit I was confused, because I didn't see any town where I was expecting to see one. No Cars were down at the bottom parking lot, and I stopped to relieve myself, getting passed by a Toyota Tundra and Mitsubishi Montero that had been following me since about Idaho Springs. I followed them shortly after, rounding one corner I almost ran into the Montero as it was trying to back out of a rut in the road after he had high centered it, he let me pass and I powered through the rut. After that I caught up to the Toyota who also let me pass, so that I was leading our group of three. Arriving at the trailhead, there was only three other trucks, but still somehow the trailhead restrooms were full allready. Started at the trailhead at 6:45 made the summit by 10:30. Found this hike to be very very boring, only the trail through the Stevens Gulch made it worthwhile as the views of the surronding 13ers and 12ers was gorgeous. Hiking the mountain proper was just a series of switchbacks. I need to start doing routes with class 3 in them, so that I am not bored with all the class 2 I have been limiting myself too. Very very windy the whole way up, started to get really cold and thinking about not going on to Torreys but decided to just go for it. Left summit at 10:35, for Torreys.
