Ascent Trip ReportWe left Seattle for Mt. Hood at 10:00 PM on Wednesday night, arriving around 1:00 AM on Thursday morning. We started our climb at about 2:00 AM on Thursday. We ascended to the bergshrund at the top of the route known as the "hogs back" on the south side of the mountain. We had to leap the crevasse as the snowbidge that existed had collapsed the day before. In spite of the ropes it was a risky move and a large party of climbers turned back at this point deciding not to attempt to cross the deep bergshrund. We continued up the steep upper section known as the "pearly gates" and reached the summit just after dawn.
