Ascent Trip ReportThe High Point is located in a lush cornfield, accessible only after the harvest season with the Owner's permission, as is the case with the great majority of these High Points.
From Simcoe on route #3 travel north on route #24 for 15 km to a left on county road #19. Travel west thru Vanessa to the junction with Windham 1/4 Line Road, take a right (north) and drive about 1.5 km to Windham road #3 on your left (west). Drive west on Windham road #3 for approx 2 km to the TH, Park your car on the side of the road....... the High Point is 200 meters north of here in the middle of a lush cornfield just before a patch of woods, accessible only after the harvest season with the Owner's permission.
To the right (north) of the TH is a driveway leading to a farm house, also a few hundred meters before reaching the TH and this farm house is a wide long gravel road to the right, leading to an industrial complex .... it is signed "Lee Ridge Pork Inc. no entry". The High Point is exactly due west of this industrial complex.
As rose and I sat at the entrance of the industrial complex surveying the site, a truck pulled up wanting to know why we were there...... after giving him the reason for our presence and telling him about "Peakbagger" we found out that we were talking to the friendly Owner of that whole area, third generation, Ron Lee. He was well aware of the High Point being on his property and said that on special occasions (Canada Day, New Years Eve) you are able to see the fireworks from the surrounding communities.I suggested to him that he should provide a maintained trail and make the High Point a commercial enterprise by charging a fee.
"With the present pork business situation these days, maybe I should."
Ron Lee's house is located on the south side of Windham road #3 about 200 meters past the High Point TH, on the left as the road comes to a crest.
NB..... this hike to be done after the harvest season with Ron Lee's permission. I did not get it on this day and I didn't ask for it.
"I CELEBRATE A CLIMB WHEN I GET TO THE BOTTOM .......BY THE TIME I GET TO THE TRAIL HEAD, I'M DONE."
