Ascent Trip Report

This was highpoint # 3 on my 3 HP tour of the south. I had just summited Magazine Mt. in AR the day before so I headed down into the Bayou State to hit Driskill Mt. Overall this was HP # 11. It was raining pretty hard for the previous hour or so as I approached the trailhead. I stayed in my car for at least a half an hour waiting for a break so I could make a dash to the summit. Finally I got one so I rushed through the muddy trail and completely muddied up my new running shoes that I was wearing. I made the top and was really surprised at the pretty views there. Since LA has a reputation as a non-hilly state it really was very scenic. The Kisatchie Forest is really a great spot to explore. Too bad I didn't have more time. I really enjoyed Lousiana. I stopped at Black Bayou State Park near Monroe, LA on my way out to try to spot gators but it must have been too early in the season for them in March.
