Ascent Trip Report

TH: Snowpatch
ETD: 12:00 hiked to base camp on the East side of Crispus Basin. Lots of snow above 6,500. Mostly navigating with map and compass. Fairly easy route finding.

Day Two: Left BC at 9:00 climbed to the shoulder of Crispus pass ridge and Black Horn, traversed 500 feet across next basin and ascended rotten gully, partially filled with snow. Surprisingly good rock and routes up the gully to about 7,800 below Goat Citadel where we stopped for lunch. Crossed several steep snow fields with moderate to fatal run-out potential. Ate lunch on the East side of the Citadel. Passed through moats around the South side of GC and then hiked down the pass and up the ridge to Curtis Gilbert. The final 100 fee was climbed from the Western face.

Descent: Hiked south to ridge and further south until we found a gully that looked promising. Lots of loose rock and class 4/5 for 500 feet. Passible, but great run-out risk. At the bottom of the gully traversed North and East back to Crispus Pass saddle. Very time consuming and uphill slog. 2.5 miles. Finally, retraced our steps back to base camp around 5:00.

Day Three: Hiked out from BC, 9:26 and back to car by 12:15, with a stop to wash along the way.
