Ascent Trip Report

From the Summit Springs trailhead, I hiked up the Milk Ranch Trail and overnighted in the lower Milk Ranch meadow. I had the place to myself on a beautiful, clear night.

I started off the next morning with some thunderheads on the horizon. I headed up the ridge to tag Signal Peak and get some pictures. Then, I walked up to the saddle between the West and East summits. The walk up to the West Summit was easy, but the clouds were coming in. The bottoms of the thunderheads were below the top of the mountain.

I hustled back to the saddle and ate lunch, thinking I was done for the day. The wind kept the clouds moving, though, so I had a chance to make it to the East Summit. This trail is longer and more exposed. Watch for loose talus and gravel. I made it to the East Summit, snapped some pics, then immmediately hustled down.

From the saddle, I headed back to the trailhead. I was in my raingear before I made it back to the car. The climb was worth it, though!
