Ascent Trip Report

Drove paved road around north side of range through Stilia and then to the saddle a bit under 1000 m that is east of Stilia. From here a dirt road heads west, climbing the ridge to the high point. We drove a high clearance vehicle up this road, which would be very tricky after a rain. Perhaps 1 or 2 km east of the top we unexpectedly joined a very nice new wind farm dirt road that is not yet shown on the satellite maps. This road leads very close to the top, where we parked and took a short stroll up. The highest point is occupied by an abandoned fire lookout building and a comm. tower. A trig pillar is here, and my GPS read 1552 m. with 7 m. accuracy on the pillar. We took a sight level over to a contender bump roughly 1/2 km to the east. It was obviously lower. We then drove over to the wind turbine that has notched into this east contender and sighted back to the higher west bump. It is possible that the turbine pad has lowered the east contender.
