Ascent to Mount Shasta-summit plateau on 2009-05-07
|Date:||Thursday, May 7, 2009|
|Ascent Type:||Unsuccessful - Turned Back|
|Point Reached:||Mount Shasta - summit plateau|
| Elevation:||13750 ft / 4191 m|
| Remaining Elevation:||412 ft / 125 m (2% left to go)|
Ascent Trip ReportExcellent visibility, Sunny, cold and windy. We passed the turned around point and we needed to turn back 400 ft away from the summit. We lost 1-1/2 hrs with an unexperienced climber in need of help. 2 of my teammates were in bad shape to continue.
Climbed Cassaval ridge half way up and cut across to the west face due to dangerous cornices.
