Ascent Trip ReportGot off train at Needleton and hiked up Chicago Basin to above timberline, which was no small feat with our fully loaded backpacks and a steep trail with waterfalls and other obstacles. We were quite tired and didn't find a level or dry place to pitch the tent. It was almost dark when we bedded down. But by the light of morning we could tell that we were very close to the Sunlight Peak, and we were greatly encouraged. We were on the trail early and climbed up a steep snow slope, then maneuvered to the summit rock on Sunlight.
