Ascent Trip Report

Cheryl & I hiked Smart Mtn today. On way up we saw a Fawn & a doe get run over by a car & truck :-( .1st the fawn got hit by a car then the doe ran into a truck just in front of us ...How sad a family taken out I hope they didn't suffer long .The day started out nice cool & sunny. We took the Lambert Ridge Tr up & met alot a AT thru hikers NOBO & SOBO from all over the US .Good Luck to all of them.At the summit we climbed the tower & the views were just spectacular .We relaxed & headed down the Rangers Tr.
We were told it wasn't a very good trail but decided to find out for ourselves....Well we did .The top section was sliperry & not very well maintained & no blazes .after awhile on this the trail turned rocky rooty & had a little challenge on finding the trail but we did.The bottom half was awful...Not trail conditions but bugs....Cheryl got a few in her eyes & I did too plus ate a few Yeck!!!!.
All in all it was a great hike & I really enjoyed hiking with Cheryl .Thanks for the invite & hope to hike with you again
