Ascent Trip ReportThis was a great and somewhat challenging hike to the top of the mountain, even though it was mostly along a road. This road opens later in the year for car traffic, but was still covered in snow in areas on the way to the top. We took a few short cuts on the way up, but stuck to the road on the way down. I would guess hiking along the road would be about 5 miles each way. The highpoint of the mountain is only about 1.2 miles from the parking lot as far as line of site goes. I would recommend hiking this time of the year prior to traffic being on the road, as there was not many people and no vehicles. Nice and quiet. Only saw a few mountain bikers on the roadway coming down.
