Ascent Trip ReportHiked from the Springer Mountain parking lot to the summit on the first portion of the AT. Return trip was by way of the Benton MacKay Trail for a total of about 4-1/2 miles. Beautiful weather and nice views along the way. Benton MacKaye Trail has been kept in excellant condition! Suggest a truck or SUV to reach the parking lot; the final 7 or 8 miles on the forest service road was rough on a car.
