Ascent Trip ReportLed 11 people for my third annual late January climb from the Black Mt Campground (trail 190) up to Mitchell. The new tower was open and well used. Came down Camp Alice Trail to the horse trail and back to Mitchell trail down. Took the side trail (190-A) on the way down.
Best view from the summit I've ever had. Visibility was forever; the 50mph wind overnight helped clear out the air.
Not as much ice on the trail as 2008, but a lot of thin ice on stream at the uphill junction of 190 & 190-A. A couple of wet feet there.
