Ascent Trip ReportMy dad, brother, and I arrived at Mt. Carleton on Friday evening and camped at Franklin campground. Started our day at 7:30 heading up Sagamook West to Mt. Sagamook. Some great views on the climb up and some impressive rock outcroppings near the top from which to climb up and get an even better view. From the top of Sagamook we headed across to Mount Head and then on to Carleton. Beautiful clear day and you could see for miles in every direction. Only ran into one group of people at the top of Carleton and other than that we didn't see anyone the entire day. From the top of Carleton we backtracked to the Dry Brook trail for the descent. This was a very nice trail with a number of waterfalls and some impressive old-growth forests near the bottom. We then took the Caribou Brook trail to loop back to the Sagamook parking lot. We arrived at the parking lot at 5:00. A great day...no people...no bugs. You couldn't have scripted a better day for climbing this one.
