Ascent Trip ReportThe hike starts on an old jeep trail but after the first half mile you have the option to split onto the Five Oak trail. This trail offers a more shaded and intimate experience. After 2 miles you get to mid-gate. During most of the year this is were the hike ends. From here you are .9 miles from the top and the going is fairly easy. The area has a mild slope with large open meadows. The summit offers views of Banning on one side and parts of Julian on the other. There is also a old flight beacon. Will on the Hike we saw a few hawks, a large snake, and old deer. Overall a good hike.
