Ascent Trip Report

The hike starts on an old jeep trail but after the first half mile you have the option to split onto the Five Oak trail. This trail offers a more shaded and intimate experience. After 2 miles you get to mid-gate. During most of the year this is were the hike ends. From here you are .9 miles from the top and the going is fairly easy. The area has a mild slope with large open meadows. The summit offers views of Banning on one side and parts of Julian on the other. There is also a old flight beacon. Will on the Hike we saw a few hawks, a large snake, and old deer. Overall a good hike.
