Ascent of Mount Moses on 2009-05-16| Date: | Saturday, May 16, 2009 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Moses | | Location: | USA-Nevada | | Elevation: | 8649 ft / 2636 m |
Ascent Trip ReportSee Cain Mountain TR for directions to Home Station Gap. From the gap follow a fenceline jeep road north about 2.4 miles to a ridge, elev 5950ft, from here a faint jeep road heads northeast along the ridge and fades away at 6100ft. Continue along the ridge following sporadic cow paths among the scattered sagebrush. At the 7400ft level the ridgeline drops 250ft to a saddle with a sub peak directly across. Drop to the saddle and sidehill around this sub peak through knee high sagebrush and faint cow paths and gain another saddle at 7600ft. From there its a gentle to moderate climb in open country to the summit. Register in a glass jar. This was my route but there are other possibilities from the Gap.
