Ascent of Plateau Mountain on 2009-05-09
|Date:||Saturday, May 9, 2009|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||USA-New York|
| Elevation:||3840 ft / 1170 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis was the first peak in a long, brutal, and exeedingly muddy 4 peak day. Parked at Roaring Kill PA, and used the Mink Hollow Trail (Watch out for an odd switchback at 2700', where the trail cuts back and descends around 100' to a creek crossing...) to the Devil's Path. From Plateau, I backtracked to Sugarloaf, continued on to Twin, and then finished the day on Indian Head. I then decided to reascend Twin to get to the Pecoy Notch Trail. Were I to do it again, I would have descended to the Prediger PA and made the 2.5 mile road walk back to the Roaring Kill PA, and avoided the 650' ascent back over the summits of Twin.
Overall stats were 13.2 miles, 5000ish feet of gain, and 10 hours (It rained all week, so most of the trails were bogs, and the rocks were slippery. This time also includes lunch and other associated breaks...).
