Ascent Trip Report

I ended up meeting up with Lupe Lunde for this one (see Peakbagger), and several other peaks earlier in the day. Lupe ended up getting a few cactus needles in her rear right paw so after Wildcat Mountain decided it was time to wrap things up. I ventured up Hogback on my own not able to determine which of the bumps was the highest(?). If you don't believe me, just ask Lupe - this is not a paw friendly peak.

But I did end up reconnecting with her down lower and afterwards we all had the customary sit down with "Arch", in his abode. His newest addition to his mantel is a molar that has some dental floss wrapped (three times) around it and displayed like a hanging necklace. He said it was a much cheaper option for his self inflicted tooth extraction than going to the dentist.

Yes, "Arch" is very friendly and welcomes all hikers so make sure to slot some time after for a tour of his home and chat. By the way in case you were wondering, yes, the Wildcat/Hogback combo is the best middle distance hike that Nebraska has to offer. Just be prepared to pluck cactus needles out of your toes/paws for days to come.
