Ascent Trip Report

Drove out of Pittsboro on CR 902. After a mile or two CR 902 goes abruptly right (Pittsboro-Goldston Road continues straight). Soon after pass St Mathews AME Zion Church on left and then Richardson Road on right (Round Top can be viewed to the north). I crossed over Harlands Creek and then parked about a 100 yards further on the right by a gated forest road. Hiked up that road a 1/4 mile or so and then bushwhacked east to the creek. Had to walk south/downstream to find a ford. Possible remains of a stone bridge/wall were at that location. After crossing creek I continued eastward ascending immature hardwood/briar slopes. Not steep, just tedious. A north/south track runs just east of the high point. Would be a welcomed way to reach the summit, but access to that track is likely in someone's back yard or field.

From the summit I sidestepped a bit to the north and then headed back down thru evergreens. Passage was easier and cooler. Arriving back at the creek I followed the eastside bank all the way back to CR 902. Did pass some stone ruins of an old home site.

No views on top.
