Ascent of Mount Lyn Lowry on 2009-04-11| Date: | Saturday, April 11, 2009 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Lyn Lowry | | Location: | USA-North Carolina | | Elevation: | 6240 ft / 1901 m |
Ascent Trip ReportJust stay on the manway and you'll straight to the summit, which is a good 300' or so before you get to the cross. It will be marked by a metal pole anchored in cement. The manway skirts around the cross counterclockwise and continues northeast down the ridgeline. Eventually the trail will join in with a rough, unpaved road which was a welcome site for me since the manway is quite rough in spots. Follow this road until you come to the end of it and you'll be close to Plott Balsam.
