Ascent Trip Report

Public land. $10. I brought the dog. Popular trail. Trail and road are not on map but it is easy to get to the TH. Exit 332, West, across the causeway, left, left and right on signed roads. The trail itself is open and in good shape. It was cloudy and cool as we started which was welcome as there is no shade. Pretty uneventful hike. Although being with Bobby on a popular route has its challenges. Some snow patches but no real issues until you get to the false summit at 6400'. From here I followed the GPS track on the peakbagger app which said to drop. Here it drops steeply for 200 vertical on some steep sidehilling trail. Then it starts to climb back up and this more bootpath than trail. The ascent wasn't too bad but the snow and mud made it a bit harder and then with Bobby. We made it up and turned right to the obvious summit. Decided to try the ridge as some other people were doing but bailed as this seemed to require scrambling. Backtracked and went down the ascent route. The bootpath is a challenge with Bobby has he pulls on the leash which makes it tough not to fall down the mtn. Lots of people and such around which only makes it messy. But we made it ok and then once back to the ascending trail is easy and open so no problems from there. Sun came out and warmed everything up on the descent.
