Ascent Trip Report

Got to TH at 1000 hr sharp and summitted at 1147 hr.; back at car at 1:43 pm. Followed PCT to spur trail and returned the same way. PCT can be a little unintuitive as sometimes Morena Butte was to my back on the ascent; a lot of winding and twisting but you eventually get to the destination. Spur trail to summit is well marked with large wooden post. Once on spur trail, cairns guide the way; they are more difficult to follow on return. At times brushy ravines obscured cairns. Summit is open granite intermixed with brush and was marked by water bottles attached to sage/manzanita branches. I didn't find any bench mark or register. Took a few minutes to wander the expanse of the East summit; some boulders to the NE looked higher than the "bottled" markers. Didn't see a soul on the entire hike. Border Patrol helicopter active to the south making runs back and forth every 30 minutes or so. Few bugs; ideal weather: sunny, low to mid sixties but with gusts of up to 20 mph on summit.
