Ascent Trip Report

At junction of Old NC 86 and Eubanks, I drove north on Old NC 86 for 0.6 miles and pulled off the road into a gated lane on the left. For reference: a green mailbox marks the spot and beyond the mailbox on the right side of old 86 is a restricted road that runs up towards Blackwood.

There is room for a car to park on either side of the lane facing the gate. There are signs indicating that this is Duke Forest land. I headed west on the pleasant forest road. Five minutes into the walk the road swings left/south at a very small stream crossing. I left the road and headed north up to the ridge that connects Pegg with Bald. Ten minutes after leaving the car i was on top of Pegg. The summit area is distinguished by a few small rocks and lots of old blow downs.

I took a more direct way back to the car walking the marked border between Duke Forest and Triangle Land Conservancy.

Less than a mile round trip.
