Ascent of Tricorner Knob on 2009-03-07| Date: | Saturday, March 7, 2009 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Tricorner Knob | | Location: | USA-Tennessee/North Carolina | | Elevation: | 6120 ft / 1865 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThis is an easy bushwhack compared to Luftee Knob or Marks Knob. Just past the intersection of the AT and Balsam Mountain Trail (while traveling north on the AT) you should see a good spot to head off trail heading northeast. I didn't see a path or ribbons here, but getting closer to the summit I noticed some orange ribbons tied on trees marking the way. They aren't very helpful down low since there are multiple ways to go but near the summit they certainly are helpful to follow.
