Ascent Trip ReportThe signed Sanhedrin Mountain Rd (FSR 20N04)is 1.3 miles north of Soda Creek on Lake Pillsbury, It may be closed at times by a locked gate, but is currently open, It is 17.6 miles to the top of Sanhedrin Mountain and the Big Signal Peak L.O. At 4.9 miles stay left, at 9.3 miles pass a signed road on the right to Tule Lake; at 10.3 miles there is a broad intersection and a prominent sign noting private land but okaying proceeding to the top as long as you don't stray off the road. The road narrows and in the last mile there are several steep, rough spots that dictate 4WD. The long closed L.O., clad in green siding, is in dilapidated condition. The stairs were open to the catwalk; the interior of the cab was a mess. I understand the road is kept open to service the nearby communication facility, The area is a happy hunting ground for hunters. The USGS benchmark, plsced in 1925, is identified as "Mt. Sanhedrin."
