Ascent Trip ReportAfter a couple of attempts starting from the Sherburne Pass on Rte 4, I finally decided to just head up the central ski slope, aided by the televators. I had intended to bring my ASOD for descent, but forgot it in the shuffle of getting Delilah onto the slope past the "No Pets" sign. Pico's lifts don't run on Tues&Wed this year, so it was a nice quiet day on the slope. We saw a few other folks out, mostly skiers, and chatted with a couple who had just popped out onto the slope from the Sherburne Pass tr. Delilah wouldn't stop barking at them; fortunately the guy was a 'dog person'. Spent awhile on the summit - looking for the summit - taking photos and gawking at the ugly buildings. I'd read that the 'true summit' was designated by "a small pile of rocks near some pipes sticking out of the ground near a building", so I visited all of the pipes and wandered around looking for the highest point for good measure. We saw a ski patroller, but she didn't give us any trouble. This was a quick trip, despite the fact that we wove our way down gentler slopes for the return to the car.
