Ascent Trip Report

A moderate hike to a seldom climbed summit. I started at a point on highway 78 about 4.5 miles north of the Border Patrol check point. There is a flat area on the west side at the top of a grade. It's a good place to park so that you will see your vehicle on the return. Hike east into a wash. There are many small drainages but try to stay headed east and into the main canyon west of the summit. I stayed up on the south side of the wash which is generally easier than the bottom. Climb up to a saddle at point W12 then descend a bit and side-hill around the left side to the final slope. The benchmark is on the northern of two summits. The topo doesn't show two bumps, but I think the northern is the highest. There was no register so I placed one on the BM disk. This hike is about 3.8 miles round-trip with a gain of about 900 ft. 11/15 RLC
