Ascent Trip Report

A reasonably good alternate route, if not tagging the MD HP on the same outing. I parked at the base of FR-225 (39.22347, -79.50965) on the opposite side of the highway. FR-225 was gated shortly off the highway with Forest Service signage that indicated that non-motorized use was permissible. From the gate follow the most used road, there are a few less worn/more deteriorated side roads, until 39.22535, -79.50135 turning a hard right uphill again following old road. This appears to join Mr. Poulin's route from Backbone Mountain at this point. Follow this road uphill until around approximately 39.22291, -79.50227 when you need to turn uphill toward a large wind turbine. It's a not awesome, but not awful bushwack of about 0.1 mile to the HP. I found a rock outcropping at 39.22203, -79.50166 that I'm fairly certain was higher that the PB coordinates. RT 2 miles
