Ascent Trip Report

Follow Jess Valley Road east from U.S. 395 to FSR 64, then on FSR 64 17.6 miles to the turnoff to Camp One. Go right 2 miles to Camp One.
We camped here last night. Left this morning at 6:05AM, heading first along the road, then on use trail downhill about 600' to Lost Lake (6:45AM), then X-C directly and steeply up the NW slope of Hat Mountain, with some bushwhacking,to its tilted, rocky, broad and open summit plateau (8:15AM). We checked out a couple of possible highpoints including the designated one with cairn and register. We returned the same way as we had come, Back at the car by 10:15AM.
