Ascent Trip ReportThis morning 19 of us from the Sierra Club Base Camp at Fifth Lake headed for the nearby Inconsolable Range, led by Bob Thompson and accompanied by Gus, the Glacier Lodge dog, as mascot. The trail led up past Sixth and Seventh Lakes to the talus, which we all ascended without difficulty, paced by leader Bob, to the saddle between the two principal peaks of the Inconsolables. Continuing along the crest of the east ridge, we soon reached Cloudripper, high point of the Range. We enjoyed an hour and a half of leisure from our high perch with great views. With a few patches of snow around, Bob provided the makings of "snow ice-cream" for our refreshment. Back at the saddle, seven of us climbed the succession of large granite blocks to the subsidiary peak 100+' lower than Cloudripper before heading back down to camp.
