Ascent Trip Report

Previous directions will get you to the vicinity, although if it has rained recently mud on the roads may be a problem. I had to circle around the other side of a quadrangle of roads to avoid a muddy spot that looked impassable even for my Jeep. This is the only one of the four Kansas chp's I did today that deserves the term high point. Both of the listed knobs are clearly higher than the surrounding area. I agree that the more northerly of the two knobs looks to be the higher of the two, but I'm not sure if that is an optical illusion. For the more southerly one, I parked at a higher spot on the road and so it was only about 12 feet or so up to the spot. For the northern spot you start out a bit downhill on the road and actually go up perhaps 30 feet, but I'm still not certain whihc one is higher. For the nouthern one I was able to drive into the edge of the unfenced field to get a bit closer. Since the two spots are very close together and combined only amount to a bit more than a half mile roundtrip, it might be worth doing both.
