Ascent Trip Report

We (Brent Lynam, Bob Packard and myself) considered visiting this while on a trip to the Western Canaries 9-16 March 2007, but research indicated that although there's a car park near the summit, the summit area itself is closed, occupied by various telecoms installations, controlled and patrolled by the military. Info Sources: SummitPost, also a local tourist website which I didn't take a note of.
However, Jose Martinez has since confirmed that the highest point is a rocky ridge just outside the fenced area: he reached it by a roped climb. He has since provided the following notes:

Before arriving at car park you must go towards a “snow pit” a tourist place used in the past to collect snow in winter time.
Then you must go in direction to an arch situated at SE of military station. It is easy to climb this pass.
You must go down (III, easy without rope) and then you must climb a short pass (5/6 m) with a Spanish graduation IV+,V-
(HVD/MS in England or 5.7 /5.8 in USA). I think it is necessary ropes to climb it. There are spits placed but we used also friends.
Then appears an easy tower

Jose Martinez has written a book "The techos (roofs ??) of Spain" covering the HPs of the 50 Spanish provinces.

I summitted 2 years later with Bob Kerr - see my 2009 trip report.
