Ascent of Olympus on 2008-09-20Date: | Saturday, September 20, 2008 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Olympus | Location: | Greece | Elevation: | 2916 m / 9570 ft |
Ascent Trip ReportCompletely unprepared for the cold weather, but tried anyways in the middle of an ice storm. The last 300m or so are a highly exposed, class IV scramble (i might even call some sections 5.4). dangerous to begin with, but with the rocks covered in ice and me not having gloves, even more so. Regardless, i safely arrived to a beautiful view of the insides of a cloud. Oh well...
The descent was tricky, but i took it REAL slow, and arrived safely at the refuge.
